Kazakhstan National University (Al-Farabi Kazakh National University), also translated as Kazakhstan Ali-Farabi National University or Kazakhstan National University, is the highest institution in the country. It was organized by the then Kazakhstan Regional Committee on October 13, 1933. established. It was officially opened on January 15, 1934.

The school has strong teaching staff, with more than 3,000 teaching staff, including professors, doctors, doctor of science and doctor of philosophy, more than 10 academicians of the Academy of Sciences, more than 40 meritorious workers of the Republic of Kazakhstan, nearly 40 national awards of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Named Award Winners, 40 Youth Award Winners and 47 National Research Fellowship Winners. There are more than 100 foreign professors and scholars teaching at the school, from more than 30 countries.

In addition, more than 40 professors and scholars from the school have given lectures in universities in Hungary, Germany, Mongolia, France, the United States, Russia, Turkey, Uzbekistan and other countries. The school has established cooperative relations with more than 500 institutions of higher learning and research centers around the world. In 2022, the school has signed cooperation agreements with more than 30 first-class universities in the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, France, the United Arab Emirates and Turkey. At the same time, branch campuses were opened in Istanbul and Bishkek.

The school currently has 16 departments, 68 teaching and research offices, 29 scientific research institutes and research centers, 1 technology park, and about 140 science education research laboratories. Provide education and training at the undergraduate, master and doctoral levels, with majors covering linguistics, science and engineering, medicine, management and many other fields. KazNU's comfortable learning and accommodation environment, high-quality teaching and student quality have attracted a large number of overseas students.

The number of international students in the school is increasing year by year, and there are currently 2,800 international students from 54 countries studying for bachelor, master and doctoral degrees in KazNU. The language training for international students in the preparatory department began in 1985 and has trained 5,000 international students from 83 countries. The preparatory department has cooperated with embassies and consulates of many countries, such as the United States, China, Japan, the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, South Korea, Mongolia, Spain, Turkey, Iran and other countries.
