Changchun University

Changchun University is located in Changchun City, Jilin Province, which is known as the "North Country Spring City". It is a provincial comprehensive university with profound heritage and distinctive characteristics.

The predecessor of the school was the Changchun Industrial Accounting and Statistics Specialized School founded by the Ministry of Industry of the former Northeast People's Government in 1949, which trained the first batch of industrial accounting and statistics talents for New China. The school changed its name several times in synchronization with the development of the country and the changes of the times. In 1983, it was renamed Jilin Mechanical and Electrical College. In 1987, with the approval of the former National Education Commission, the former Jilin University of Science and Technology, Jilin Mechanical and Electrical College, Changchun Foreign Language College, and Changchun Vocational University merged to form Changchun University. In 2000, the former Jilin Provincial Forestry School was incorporated.

The school currently has three campuses, with a total area of 1.02 million square meters. There are 20 teaching departments, 54 undergraduate majors, 8 first-level academic master degree authorization points, 14 master professional degree authorization points, and doctoral degrees in Jilin Province The authorized unit establishes a project to build a university, and mechanical engineering, food science and engineering, materials and chemical engineering are the disciplines for the construction of a doctoral degree project. Majors cover economics, law, education, literature, science, engineering, agronomy, medicine, management, and art. There are 2 national-level characteristic majors and 8 provincial-level characteristic majors; national first-class majors There are 5 construction sites, 15 provincial-level first-class professional construction sites; and 1 national-level talent training model innovation experimental area. Based on the actual industrial structure in Northeast China and Jilin Province, the school has established two national-level scientific research platforms, the National Soybean Deep Processing Technology Research and Promotion Center and the National Soybean Engineering Technology Research Center Jilin Branch Center, and the existing key laboratory of the Ministry of Education for Intelligent Rehabilitation and Barrier-free Persons with Disabilities 19 provincial and ministerial-level scientific research platforms, including the Key Laboratory of Human Health Status Identification and Function Enhancement in Jilin Province.

The school currently has 19,497 full-time students, including 1,310 full-time graduate students. There are 1,366 faculty members, including 122 teachers with senior titles, 304 teachers with associate senior titles, 291 teachers with doctoral degrees, and 426 teachers with master's degrees. The school has senior experts directly contacted by the central government, experts with outstanding national contributions, recipients of special allowances from the State Council, new century talents from the Ministry of Education, national technical experts, provincial senior experts, provincial top-notch innovative talents, provincial experts with outstanding contributions, provincial famous teachers, Changbai Mountain There are more than 50 high-level talents such as scholars and Changbai Mountain skilled teachers. The school adheres to international education and extensively carries out international cooperation and exchanges. It is the first batch of higher education institutions in the country qualified to recruit foreign students in China. The school has established friendly and cooperative relations with 131 universities, educational institutions and enterprises in 27 countries and regions. Now has the Chinese Government Scholarship, Confucius Institute Scholarship, Jilin Provincial Government Scholarship, "Silk Road" Chinese Government Scholarship Program to receive international students in China. The school and the China Study Abroad Service Center of the Ministry of Education jointly established the "Training Base for Studying in Russia", established the first institution in Asia to carry out Yesenin's special research--Yesenin Cultural Education Center, and the Confucius Institute established in cooperation with Russia's Ryazan State University won the global "Advanced Confucius Institute" honorary title. In 2021, it will be approved as an implementing institution for the "Asian Campus" project led by the governments of China, Japan and South Korea. In 2022, the school will cooperate with Qiming University in South Korea to establish a non-independent legal person Sino-foreign cooperative education institution "Changchun University Qiming College".

The school attaches great importance to cultivating a distinctive campus culture. Students have won six consecutive first prizes in the national college student art exhibition, and won 17 national awards in the national "Challenge Cup" and "Creating Youth" competitions. "Tuanfeng Innovation and Entrepreneurship Team" was rated as "Xiaoping Science and Technology Innovation Team" by the League Central Committee. The school has been awarded the advanced unit of "Three Going to the Countryside" social practice activities by the Central Propaganda Department, the Ministry of Education, the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, and the National Federation of Students for 22 times. In 1987, the China Disabled Persons' Federation and the Jilin Provincial People's Government established the first special education college in Asia at Changchun University to recruit visually and hearing-impaired students to receive higher education. The undergraduate talent training system of higher special education has filled the gap in my country's higher education. In 2018, the School of Special Education obtained the single-entry single-entry qualification for graduate students, and began to recruit four majors for students with disabilities, including traditional Chinese medicine, fine arts, art design, and music. For more than 30 years, the school's special education work has won many international and domestic honors and awards, and it has been identified as a "National Pilot School of Higher Integrative Education for the Disabled" by the China Disabled Persons' Federation and the Ministry of Education. In 2002, Deng Pufang, then chairman of the China Disabled Persons’ Federation, pointed out when attending the 15th anniversary meeting of the college that “Changchun University’s School of Special Education is the earliest, largest, most comprehensive, and of the highest level, and it occupies a leading position in the field of higher special education in my country.” In 2017 On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the institute, Zhang Haidi, chairman of the China Disabled Persons’ Federation, pointed out in a congratulatory letter that “the establishment of the Changchun University School of Special Education is a historic beginning of higher special education in China and a milestone in the development of China’s cause for the disabled.” New Era New Leap , the school will strive to build the School of Special Education into a leading domestic and world-class institution of higher special education.

Changchun University is the birthplace of the "Tuanfeng" spirit. One day in April 1989, Jin Xie, a disabled college student at the school, received a 10-yuan remittance slip signed by "Tuanfeng". Immediately, the second and third remittance slips arrived unexpectedly. For a while, many college students with difficulties in life received remittances signed by "Tuanfeng". After the deeds of "Tuanfeng" appeared, it aroused widespread concern from all walks of life. Organizations at all levels at the national, provincial and municipal levels successively made decisions to call on the majority of young League members to learn "Tuanfeng" based on their own professions, strive to be a model for youth, and strive to be a pioneer of the times. Over the years, the spirit of "Tuanfeng" has been continuously enriched and developed, forming the basic spiritual connotation with the core of "caring for others, selfless dedication, determination to become talents, and serving the motherland". It has developed from the initial individual charity action of helping the poor to the practical activities of the whole school, teachers, students and even social youth groups with the theme of "patriotism, dedication and dedication", which is in line with Chinese culture and the spirit of the times.
