Northeast Agricultural University is a national "double first-class" construction university with "advantages in agriculture, featured in life sciences and food sciences, and coordinated development of agriculture, engineering, science, economics, management and other disciplines". Founded in Harbin in 1948, the school was originally called Northeast Agricultural College. It was the first general higher agricultural college founded by the Communist Party of China in the Liberated Area.
